  • Being human is hard; that is an undeniable fact. Life is full of immense joy and gut wrenching heartache, high highs and low lows. I wholeheartedly believe that one of the most powerful benefits of being engaged in therapy is that you don’t have to face life alone.
  • What is Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)? Welcome to the global DBT community! Training as a DBT therapist is training to save and change lives. It is not for the faint-hearted, AND it is life-changing for both client and therapist.

As a professional, I’m a member of the Canadian Psychological Association and a registered psychological associate with the
College of Psychologists of Ontario. This means I am authorized to provide psychological services in Ontario. I have 20 years of experience, working with adults and couples from all different backgrounds.

As a person, I learned to run as an adult (and more recently, that you have to “use it or lose it”); I dabble in art and gardening; I love old forests, being on water & up in trees; and I really appreciate homecooking. Have travelled some - would love to do more.
I have personally dealt with insomnia and know how much it can impact your life.

With twenty years of experience, graduate and post-graduate training, and ongoing annual professional development, I offer empirically-based best practices in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Dialectical Behaviour-informed Therapy (DBT), and Mindfulness-based practices.

At the heart of my practice is my deep regard for each client. Your history, your experiences, your dreams: you are worthy to be heard. If I am not the right therapist for you, I will help you locate services elsewhere. I appreciate the opportunity to walk a part of your journey with you.

I am excited to bring leading edge interventions to Richmond Hill, Markham, and surrounding areas. Virtual reality therapy is now available for treating various anxieties, phobias, and chronic pain. Finding it difficult to practice meditation? There’s more than just an app for that! Come try a brain sensing headband that uses biofeedback to help you anchor a mindfulness practice to manage everyday stress.

Therapy starts with the first session. You provide information about yourself and your situation. Directv video player download macfasrhip. I want to understand the nature of your challenge(s) and what your goals are. Sometimes it might not be clear what it is exactly that you want - that’s OK. In fact, that can be one of the goals: to help you define and clarify what you need and want.
Then we work on how to achieve those things.

In that first session, I provide you with preliminary feedback and a proposed action plan. This can, of course, be modified as you progress. You will receive resources and recommendations for in-between sessions. You’ll notice that change occur over time: with new concepts, different perspectives, working through the thoughts and feeling that have held you back, and practicing new behaviours.

Your issues probably didn’t happen overnight; neither will change, growth or healing. We decide together how many sessions and over what period of time to work together. For some, brief therapy (1-2 sessions) is enough, where I just get you started on your path; although you are welcomed to return whenever you want. For others, more sessions are needed to create and sustain change. So we will figure out a pace that fits where you are at. At every step, we work together to ensure you get what you need.
